Matting and Framing a Diploma

Graduating is an exciting and proud moment in anyone’s lifetime. After working tirelessly for years studying and writing papers you finally have the item you longed for….the diploma! So what do you do with it? After all the hard work and money you spent the last thing you want to do is file it away. That’s where American Frame can help. Frame it and hang it on the wall where you can proudly display and appreciate it everyday!

When designing a framing treatment for a diploma you need to take into consideration the setting you will hang it. Will it be in a home office? Will it be in a law or medical office? Will it be in your art studio? The design choices you make for your diploma will need to correlate with the environment and the mood you want to develop. It could be casual, traditional, or colorful.

A diploma hanging in your home office could be framed more casually, or design specific to your home décor. You want the diploma to blend seamlessly with other elements you have in your home such as furniture and art. If your space is modern consider a metal frame from the Reflections or Currents Collections with no mat.

For a traditional home take a look at the Antigua Collection for something ornate or Bravo Collection for a more subtle frame. By keeping the matting neutral you will let the frame highlight the diploma.

If your home is decorated with a nautical or cottage style a frame from our Rustics Collection would be gorgeous with a double mat of soft green or blue grey and off-white.

If your diploma will hang in an office with a more traditional setting consider matting and framing it more conservatively. You want the treatment to project power and security. Consider a frame with subtle details rather than heavily detailed. My favorite collections for this type of custom picture framing are the Gibraltar and Woodtones which both have the elegant simplicity needed in a traditional environment. Offered in a range of wood colors these can easily blend with any office décor. For the matting it would be best to stick with neutrals such as cream, white or black. A double mat can easily be done, or use a black core mat for an extra unexpected detail.

Framing a diploma for an art studio or classroom is where you could really let the fun and creativity out. You could use any color mat you love; a teal or a bright red. You could use a single mat or double mat with a white or cream on top for just an accent of color. If matting with a lively color a simple frame from our Basics Collection can help provide balance to the treatment. If you prefer not to mat your diploma in this more casual setting try a vibrantly colored frame from our Standard Plus Three or Twilight Metal Collection. Have fun with a diploma framed for this setting!

In any of these settings you could also use the colors of your alma mater. Some diplomas may even have these colors incorporated in them already. You could choose the most dominate color with a neutral color as the top mat. If your school has more than one school color you could use a triple mat treatment and include them both and then a neutral on top to produce an eye catching treatment.

Ditto. I lost my certificate of first big achievement as I hadn't carefully kept it. I think all prestigious documents should be framed. Archival framing doesn't just save it for long time... it also makes them look better. So it's very important to frame your important documents so as to preserve it for a long period of time. :)

Art To Frame
Graduating is an exciting and proud moment in anyone’s lifetime.

It is not about money only; it's the return on investment by you, of course time and money investment.

So it should be celebrated not only 1 time but for the decades and centuries. Every time whenever you see your diploma, degree or any certificate you should be proud. So keep them new, safe and front of your eyes. Keep them framed with stylish and long lasting wooden frame. Of course with some stylish and attractive frame and Show it to your friends and family members.

Cheers!

Diplomas are important to remember and frame. This is a good in-depth guide on matting and framing this important document. I think I will go and frame all the diplomas in my house. http://www.trophy.net.au/classic-framing
