Framing Children's Art

Framing Children's Art

Children’s art is often incredibly creative, free from the confines of expectations. While most of these creations end up magnetically affixed to a refrigerator, some pieces deserve a lasting place of honor. Framing a child’s artwork preserves their early creative expressions while also celebrating the start of their artistic journey, providing a meaningful way to reflect on their growth and progress over time.

Display it Proudly

Children’s artwork holds a special place in our hearts—a pure expression of creativity and appeal. Rather than tucking these cherished pieces away in a drawer or filing cabinet, consider transforming them into striking displays. Custom framing not only preserves their artistic vision but also introduces a deeply personal element to your home’s décor. When thoughtfully framed, these works become meaningful heirlooms, treasured by the entire family for years to come. More importantly, they serve as a tangible tribute to the young artist’s talent and something the artist can look at with pride.

The framing approach can be inspired by the artwork itself—whether by enhancing its vibrancy with a carefully selected frame and mat combination or embracing a refined gallery-style aesthetic with neutral tones. Recently, we had the privilege of framing exceptional pieces created by young artists, utilizing premium materials from American Frame to honor their efforts.

Artist: June (Age 4)

For this young artist’s work, we selected the 208 - Dark Walnut Gallery Frame, a timeless choice that adds warmth and depth. To enhance the composition, we paired it with the 8424 Bainbridge Alphamat Artcare Chameleon Mat Board, which subtly adapts to the hues within the artwork, and the 901-4 Peterboro Warm White Museum Mat Board, providing a classic, museum-quality finish.

Artist: Ella (Age 6)

To frame Ella’s Statue of Liberty piece, we opted for the TF20 - Black Nielsen 129 Metal Picture Frame, a sleek and contemporary design that allows the artwork to take center stage. The matting combination of 8260 Bainbridge Alphamat Artcare Ice White Mat Board and 4428 Bainbridge AlphaLinen Heather Grey Mat Board creates a balanced contrast, lending a sense of refinement and sophistication.

Artist: Genevieve (Age 13)

Genevieve’s work deserved a presentation that echoed both elegance and modernity. The S13 Contrast Grey Nielsen 11 Metal Picture Frame provides a striking yet understated framework. To accentuate the composition, we chose the CS9902 Crescent Select White Art Mat Board with a Black Core, offering depth and a crisp, professional aesthetic.

Artist: Vaughn (Age 18)

For Vaughn’s mature and thought-provoking piece, we selected the RL515 Light Brown DEHA 34 Wood Veneer on Metal Frame, a unique blend of natural texture and contemporary edge. The matting, a combination of 8516 Bainbridge Alphamat Artcare Pampas Mat Board and 8465.6 Bainbridge Topmat Igloo 6 Ply Mat Board, introduces natural warmth and dimension, creating a truly distinguished and deserving presentation.
