Kristen Margiotta is an artist and illustrator, living in the first state of Delaware. She received her B.F.A. from University of Delaware in 2005, and since then, has been exhibiting her work in galleries and at art events regionally along the East Coast, as well as the notable Pop Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. Kristen will make her NYC debut in December 2012 at Animazing Gallery,home to American illustration, animation, and fine art. Since 2005, Kristen has also made and marketed a variety of merchandise showcasing her illustrations from t-shirts, handbags, postcards, buttons, and more. Her first illustrated children's book, Better Haunted Homes and Gardens, was published in 2009 through Imaginary Books. She is currently illustrating a new chapter book series for young adults through Grosset & Dunlap/ Penguin Young Readers. The first book, Gustav Gloom and the People Taker, is scheduled for release August, 2012. Kristen has been featured in numerous periodicals and websites, as well as received several awards for her work. Kristen's work is whimsical, cute, and often creepy. She enjoys the excitement viewers have when they notice hidden elements in the paintings, or how the story lines and characters remind them of their childhood imagination. Besides painting and illustrating, Kristen enjoys instructing art to a wide range of students. Currently, she instructs private art lessons and classes at Center for the Creative Arts in Yorklyn, DE, where she works with dedicated and creative students.
