FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nielsen-Bainbridge congratulates American Frame Corporation at the company's 30th Anniversary party held Dec. 5th at their Maumee, OH facility. American Frame is a leading supplier of custom cut framing materials to the "do-it yourself" picture framer and volume framing services to retailers.
Founder and President, Ron Mickel credits much of his success to his strong management team as well as the fine products and vendor relationship with Nielsen-Bainbridge, American Frame's single most significant supplier. "I started this business in my garage in 1973 with two metal profiles in three colors. We now offer 16 profiles in 50 colors, along with mat boards, wood frames and accessories and our selection continues to grow."
Mr. Mickel was a pioneer in the mail order picture framing business. When metal frames were first introduced into the market, he was the owner of Ron Mickel Gallery in Toledo, OH. "At the time (before 800 numbers), I was interested in mail order as a new business model, and thought that the metal frame would be an interesting item to test. I took out an ad in the back of American Artist, opened a PO box, and basically forgot about it." About a month later, Ron found orders literally stuffed into the PO box, the most significant being a $400.00 order from the Art Department at Chico State University. "I couldn't believe that many people would send money through the mail". Ron eventually closed the gallery focusing all his resources to mail order, and ultimately web based business.
