September 2009 e-tip: Create Coordinating Collections In Your Gallery

Inspire Customers- Create Coordinating Collections

The internet offers artists and photographers a way to showcase their work and sell it as fine art prints that is far less expensive, and provides potentially greater exposure, than brick and mortar galleries.  These benefits inspired American Frame’s virtual Art Gallery.  But to get the most out of a virtual gallery, consider a few marketing strategies.

Customers often want to decorate with groupings, so create images together that could be used in the same room.  A group or series could be complementary in color schemes, subject and/or styles.

Take advantage of the biography section to list your art credentials, such as education and awards, and to explain the techniques and mediums you use.  This helps customers appreciate your work on another level, gives them information to help narrow their selection and provides confidence the work is priced appropriately.

Because customers typically use search terms to browse the Art Gallery, it is a good idea when uploading images to take your time and link as many appropriate key words as possible to your subject.   Making it easier for the customer to find you among the thousands of images will increase your opportunity for a sale.

Artist: Gary Bailey

Our featured artist, Gary Bailey, paints subjects in watercolor in what he describes as a “realistic, yet impressionistic, style.” His subjects include animals, wildlife, still life, landscapes and architecture.

Gary hails from Texas and this is evident in his beautiful Southwest inspired watercolors. We’ve selected a grouping from his collection to help illustrate our e-tip.

Gary credits a life-long interest in art and his education for his success as a painter. His formal education includes a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Gary continues his training with daily painting, workshops and his signature status membership in the National Society of Artists.

Our solid wood Palladio frame by Nurre Caxton is perfect for Gary’s work. Its up-to-date profile with a subtle beeswax finish that leaves the wood grain visible makes it suitable for both traditional and contemporary spaces.
