Our sample treatments feature the work of this month’s artist, Polly Norman. Norman has combined painting and photography to create a new collection of abstract photographs through a three-fold process. First Norman photographs objects through Pennsylvania glass block, then she treats the image with photogram techniques and finally hand colors it.
Norman says, "In my work, I incorporate motion and non-representational expression. To accomplish this, I use filters in my traditional photography and warped glass with refractive/reflective surfaces for my abstract photography. Channels of color and contrasting lines are used to create a sense of flow and motion in my abstract paintings."
